It was reported earlier in the week that the Baltimore Orioles claimed Seattle Mariners outfielder Michael Morse on revocable waivers. The two sides have come to an agreement.
According to MASNSports.com, the Orioles have acquired Morse who joined the team in New York Friday.
Morse will join an Orioles lineup that certainly does not lack in power and production. Morse will fit right in the lineup with power hitters such as Chris Davis, Adam Jones, Nick Markakis, and J.J. Hardy. It will be interesting to see if the production of Morse will improve as he’s now with a contending team. He batted .226 with 13 home runs and 27 RBIs in 76 games played for the Mariners. It has been an injury-plagued year for 31-year-old who came over from the Washington Nationals via trade this past offseason.
The Orioles sent outfield prospect Xavier Avery to Seattle in the trade. Avery was hitting .237/.312/.312 with two home runs, 23 RBI in 81 games with Triple-A Norfolk.
